On 11 December 2018, Climate Change International Technical and Training Center (CITC) under Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO) and Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) together with UNFCCC-RCC, UNOSSC, JICA and OECC organized The UNFCCC COP24 Side Event on “Accelerating Climate Actions in ASEAN Member States through Capacity Building” at Thai Pavilion, Katowice, Poland. The objective of the event was to promote Capacity Building on Climate Change and CITC’s implementation for ASEAN Counties through North-South and South-South cooperation.
In this regards, Dr.Natarika Wayuparb Nitiphon, Deputy Executive Director of TGO was a speaker, Dr. Jakkanit Kanuruk, Director of Climate Change International Technical and Training Center was a moderator. We received honors from speakers from United Nations Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), Mr. Alejandro Kilpatrick, United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), Mr. Jorge Chediek, Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), Dr. Kollawat Sakhakara, Japan International Cooperation (JICA), Dr.Masato Kawanishi and Overseas and Environmental Cooperation Center (OECC), Japan, Mr. Satoshi Iemoto.
In this side event, we focused and discussed about the importance of capacity building as a key driving force for climate change actions as well as needs and roles of capacity development in implementation of climate change policies, plans and actions. There were around 50 participants to joined the event.
