On 8th May 2014, Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO has launched the event of Climate Change International Technical and Training Center (CITC) by receiving the honor from Mrs. Prasertsuk Chamornmarn (Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), Mr. Sunthad Somcheevita (Chairman of Climate Change International Technical and Training Center), Mr. Hironori Tsuboi (First Secretary, Japan Embassy), Mr. Shuichi Ikeda (Chief Representative, Japan International Cooperation Agency) Thailand Office), Ms. Natalia Derodofa (Senior Officer, Environment Division, ASEAN Secretariat) in order to provide One-stop Climate Change Technical and Training Center for ASEAN region.
|Mrs. Prasertsuk Chamornarn, Executive Director of Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) stated that TGO has the idea to make CITC become One-stop Climate Change Technical and Training Center in order to promote knowledge dissemination channels and associated Greenhouse Gas emission reduction actions and adaptationto cope with ASEAN region. This project aimed to develop guidelines for sustainable Low Carbon Society. The government agencies, educational institutions, private sector organizations as well as the voluntary public sectors are the target groups of service.|
|Under such concept, CITC has developed curriculums to strengthen the capacity of the stakeholders in all sectors, both within the country and the ASEAN region, also at the national level, local, sectoral and organization in the core issues as follows,
1. GHG Inventory Management curriculum
2. Low Carbon Society Development curriculum
3. Mitigation Mechanism curriculum
4.Sustainable GHG Management curriculum
In order to maintain the operation to the aim of CITC, TGO and JICA jointly held the Workshop to assess training needs titled “Workshop for Capacity Development on Low Carbon Society (LCS) in the Southeast Asia Region: Training Needs Assessment” between 8-9 May 2014 at Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel, Chonburi, Thailand. The objective is to assess and analyze the needs of Low Carbon Society Curriculum. Also, to exchange the experience and knowledge from the representative of the ASEAN Secretariat ,representatives from ASEAN member countries, representatives from government sector, private sector, educational institutions and agencies related to climate change issue in order to contribute the development of Low Carbon Society as well as creating a network of climate change in the future.
